On Wednesday, 22 May 2024, the Department of English Language and Literature at MIU organized a book-signing event for the novel “Letterbox”, which is the first literary production of one of its students, Lujain Fawzi. The ceremony was attended by a group of English Department professors and students.
The ceremony began with a speech from Dr. Abdel Karim Belqasim, the University President, in which he said, “…and here we stand today in admiration and appreciation before another pearl that was brought by the waves of the Mediterranean in the field of literature to stand, high and shining, talking about her first novel in the English language after it has been published.”
Then, a speech was given by the Head of the English Language and Literature Department, Mohamed Ben-Hasouna, in which he praised the novel and the student’s literary talent, wishing her a bright and productive future in writing. Then the young writer Lujain Fawzi presented a brief overview of her beginnings in the field of writing. She talked about the topic of the novel and its events. This was concluded by a discussion about the novel. At the end of the ceremony, the writer signed her novel for a number of guests.
